About the Role
A Senior Commercial Manager is responsible for the commercial management of a Section or major element of the SZC Civil Works Alliance scope from TOC setting, through project delivery to final accounting and commercial close out. The role is part of the senior commercial team and involves risk management, procurement, financial reporting and supply chain management. The ideal candidate is an experienced commercial professional with strong skills in client liaison, project management, negotiation and team leadership. Chartered membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB is normally required.
Responsibilities
* Ensure a relentless focus on Health and Safety.
* Support the delivery of the SZC project’s sustainability activities.
* Ensure staff have a good knowledge of and adhere to the Alliance’s processes, procedures and governance regime.
* See the bigger picture and prioritise efficiency opportunities.
* Take initiative to respond to project requirements.
* Understand how economic factors affect the project and construction industry.
* Provide commercial input to Value Engineering reviews for alternative methods of construction.
* Manage the feedback of commercial data to other CWA functions.
* Maximise digital opportunities.
* Review commercial and cost data and support the preparation of Target Outturn Costs (TOCs) for a section or major element of the works.
* Coordinate the commercial team to ensure programme issues are identified and actioned.
* Prepare and review Earned Value data.
* Prepare monthly performance reports and report commercial progress to the Delivery Leadership Team.
* Lead commercial aspects with stakeholders and support formulation of management plans for resource procurement.
* Apply legislation and liaise with legal experts, support the preparation of TOC submissions, and represent the financial and contractual interests of the Civil Works Alliance in progress meetings.
* Co‑ordinate supply chain management, supporting procurement, estimating and surveying.
* Understand dispute resolution options and structures, including knowledge of the SCL protocol.
Functions
Essential
* BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
* Member or Fellow of RICS, ICES or CIOB.

* Business and customer awareness, promoting organisational aims and objectives.
