A leading engineering and infrastructure consultancy is expanding its Water capability and is looking to appoint an Associate Director (Mechanical) to help deliver major programmes for UK water sector clients. This is a senior technical and people-leadership position within a multi-disciplinary design practice, offering the chance to influence major schemes across the UK (and, where relevant, internationally), from design through into client-side and construction support.
You'll join a collaborative, inclusive environment where technical excellence, innovation and long-term development are strongly supported.
What you'll be doing

* Producing, checking and approving core deliverables (reports, calculations, drawings, specifications/scopes of work).
* Acting as a technical leader across the wider practice; shaping best practice, improving internal processes and supporting capability growth.
* Providing mentoring and oversight to junior engineers; applying sound judgement on challenging technical issues.
* Supporting technical inputs to bids/proposals and client conversations.
What we're looking for (essential)
* Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
* Chartered Mechanical Engineer status.
* Strong track record leading large-scale mechanical design delivery in a consultancy setting, including multi-disciplinary collaboration.
* Hands-on knowledge of mechanical plant/equipment integration (e.g., pumps, blowers, screens, chemical dosing systems).
* Strong grasp of UK standards, legislation and best practice (including CDM and DSEAR).
* Confident using relevant analysis/design tools and software.
* Excellent stakeholder communication skills, able to explain technical matters clearly at all levels.
* Proven leadership and organisational capability with a proactive, solutions-led approach.
* Water / wastewater project experience is required.
Desirable
* Broader interest/experience in sustainable and innovative infrastructure solutions.
* Familiarity with project management tools/methodologies and technical bid support.
