The Recipe
Working alongside the Head of Project Engineering and with our wider Central Engineering team, you'll be building relationships across the business with a wide range of stakeholders, colleagues, and external suppliers.
Taking the lead on Engineering projects across our national site network, you'll lead the engineering process for new product launches, working with Innovation, NPD, Central and Ops Engineering teams and suppliers.
In previous roles you'll have managed large CAPEX budgets and provided engineering leadership, implementation solutions and project management skills. You'll be using your knowledge of purchasing and supplier negotiation skills for new plant machinery, whilst managing our suppliers contracts and agreements effectively.
We never compromise on Health & Safety or Quality, and you'll champion our Health and Safety strategy, PUWER, legislation and company standards in all project work and identify and instigate Food Safety and carbon reduction initiatives within your area of responsibility.
The Role
* To ensure the engineering projects, for the defined area of responsibility, are delivered on time.
* To instigate and deliver improvement / development projects to existing bakeries as agreed with the Head of Project Engineering
* To manage contractual elements, negotiating and purchasing items of plant and machinery for major projects.
* To ensure the installation and commissioning time scales are maintained and delivered, ensure all projects are managed with Health and Safety as a priority
* To ensure effective communication exists between site staff, Project Engineering and project team.
* Provide Site reports, Gant charts with milestones and target dates with regular project reports
* To attend appropriate seminars, suppliers meetings and conduct external visits to ensure awareness of Technology improvements and apply to projects as applicable to drive efficiency improvements and ensure Best Practice.
* To identify and instigate Food Safety and carbon reduction improvements within own area of responsibility.
* To provide support to the bakery teams with advice and expertise when required.
Essential Ingredients
* Significant experience gained as a Project Engineering Manager, in a multi-site manufacturing, FMCG environment
* Extensive Project Management experience of delivering capital based activities
* Experienced Engineer with either an Electrical or Mechanical background
* Understanding Health & Safety legislation
* Excellent communication skills: influential, articulate and persuasive
* Excellent relationship builder- establishing credibility with both internal and external contacts at all levels
* Experienced in Stakeholder Management
* Engineering Qualifications such as HND, HNC, BEng or equivalent
* Knowledge and experience of the bakery / food industry, would be desirable
