Overview
Felixstowe Community Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist. The post is based at Felixstowe Community Hospital with the potential to experience work across all three ESNEFT East Suffolk Community Hospitals, in partnership with Ipswich Hospital.
You will be part of a close-knit therapy team and collaborate with a multidisciplinary group to promote discharge to assess pathways for in-patients and optimise patient outcomes through rehabilitative and reablement approaches. The service includes dedicated delirium beds to support patients with complex cognitive needs.
Responsibilities
* Manage daily caseload of therapy interventions to ensure timely, appropriate, effective treatment and discharge planning in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
* Plan and implement single or programmes of interventions using treatment techniques to meet patient needs, applying professional knowledge, clinical reasoning, and broad clinical knowledge.
* Provide advice and education regarding lifestyle changes and adaptations to patients’ physical and social environments.
* Supervise and assist in the development of junior clinicians, non-qualified staff, and students on placement.
* Undertake audits of clinical practice and processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications and requirements
* Proactive Band 6 Occupational Therapist with commitment and enthusiasm to work as part of a team to progress rehabilitation goals.
* Experience in cognitive assessment and rehabilitation is advantageous, including utilisation of specialised skills for delirium-related cases.
* Ability to work within an multidisciplinary team and contribute to discharge planning and patient-focused care.
Hours, location and flexibility
This is a 30-hour-per-week role, with some flexibility over the working pattern within a minimum of four days per week (to be discussed with the successful candidate).
