Wayne Kelly Independent Funeral Directors are looking to expand our trusted team to support funeral services across Frome and the surrounding areas.
We are an independent, family-run business known for high standards, dignity and exceptional care.
We are seeking a reliable and physically capable Driver / Bearer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, be comfortable with heavy lifting, and demonstrate excellent standards of professionalism, presentation and discretion. You will play an important role in supporting funeral services, ensuring every family is cared for with dignity, respect and compassion.
Duties
* Drive funeral vehicles safely and professionally during funeral services and related duties.
* Carry and manoeuvre the coffin with dignity and care as part of the bearing team.
* Support the Funeral Director in delivering a seamless and respectful service.
* Prepare and maintain funeral vehicles to a high standard before and after use.
* Carry out all duties with sensitivity, discretion and respect for bereaved families.
* Work flexible shifts, including participation in an on-call rota.
* Work as part of a supportive, respectful and professional team.
* Follow all relevant health & safety procedures at all times.
Experience
* Previous experience as a driver, bearer, or in a similar hands-on role is preferred but not essential (full training will be provided).
* Physically fit and able to carry out heavy lifting safely and confidently as part of a team.
* Good organisational skills with attention to detail
* Valid driving licence and is confident driving larger vehicles.
* Comfortable working in a physically demanding role, including lifting and moving equipment when required.

Job Type: Freelance
Pay: £16.00-£17.00 per hour
