This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this position is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. Continual improvement and standardization of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems are core components of this role. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, industry guidelines, and promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Review Health Risk Assessments with medic/HSEA’s and operational teams, identifying hazard categories, hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required monitoring or surveillance programs.
* Deliver occupational hygiene plans related to chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic exposures, including but not limited to:
o Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
o Workplace exposure monitoring for substances like benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, welding fumes, and toxic gases
o Asbestos management and surveys
o Noise and vibration management and assessments
o Radiation management and assessments
o Thermal hazard, potable water, communicable diseases, mould, animal/insect hazards, DSE, and fatigue management
• Recommend and implement control strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate control measures such as LEV, PPE, RPE testing, and inspections.
• Deliver occupational hygiene training, including asbestos awareness, dust procedures, and PPE/RPE use.
• Conduct inspections and audits across operational sites, including onshore support centers and NUIs, covering occupational health standards and facilities.
• Maintain calibration systems for hygiene equipment.
Key Requirements Include:
* Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene, via a qualifying degree or BOHS modules W & P.
* At least 2 years of experience in occupational hygiene, with knowledge of measurement techniques.
* Passion and drive to promote occupational hygiene throughout the business, influencing management and staff.
* Excellent communication skills for presentations and reports.
* Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work.
