Overview
Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and patient Learning Support Mentor to join a secondary school in Birmingham. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with students to support their learning, behaviour and personal development.
The role involves supporting students across all year groups from Year 7 to Year 11, both one-to-one and in small groups, helping them complete classwork, manage their learning and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
* Support students in completing classwork and assignments, ensuring they stay on task
* Work one-to-one and in small groups with students requiring additional support
* Support students with SEND or SEMH needs to engage positively in lessons
* Encourage good behaviour, confidence and self-management in students
* Liaise with teachers to understand lesson objectives and individual student needs
* Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
* Help maintain a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment
Key Requirements
* Experience working in a UK secondary school supporting students both individually and in groups
* Experience working with students with SEND or SEMH needs is highly desirable
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, teachers and parents
* Ability to encourage engagement and motivation in students
* Patience, empathy and a positive attitude
* Must hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
