Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist

Ever considered being a specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist in beautiful, rural South Powys? The post holder will enjoy the variety of a mixed caseload of babies, children and young people, supported by a small specialist team of therapists across Powys. Excellent support for CPD and career development. There is lots of opportunity to grow specialist skills and share learning within a supportive team.


Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit a resourceful, motivated, Band 6 Occupational Therapist, with a passion for working with children and young people.

We provide a child and family centred service to a diverse population of children with a variety of conditions. You will see children across a range of community settings including school, nursery, respite facilities, and in their homes over a largely rural environment as well as in the Children's Centre.Your role will include assessment, advice and treatment planning; specialist equipment provision, minor adaptations and advice on adaptations for education.You will need to be able to independently carry out specialised assessment and appropriate intervention for children with complex needs.You will be joining a fun and enthusiastic interdisciplinary team, working closely with health and local authority colleagues.Due to the community nature of this post the successful candidate will need to have experience of independent working, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of the multidisciplinary team. We will offer you working in a supportive environment in which you will receive regular supervision and in-service training alongside support to develop specific skills for working within Paediatrics.

As an autonomous Occupational practitioner you be part of an MDT that support children and young people to fulfil their Occupational Therapy goals and work on what matters to them. You will be responsible for a designated geographical area of Powys to work autonomously as a specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist.

Person Specification


Qualification & or Knowledge

* Degree in Occupational Therapy
* HCPC registered
* Evidence of significant post graduate training e.g. range of short courses, in-house training
* Documented evidence of Continuing Professional Developmen
* Up to date knowledge of legislation
* Specialist knowledge and application of Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions relevant to client group
* Detailed knowledge of the principals of clinical governance and its application
* Effective teaching and presentation skills
* Knowledge of Occupational Therapy models of practice


Experience

* Clinical fieldwork educator
* Supervision of junior staff
* Evidence of commitment to multi-disciplinary working
* Awareness of current practice issues
* Ability to work autonomously and set own priorities
* Experience working within a Community setting
* Understanding of Occupational Therapy Outcome Measures
* To be well organised and able to keep to deadlines/ timescales
* Good communication skills both written and verbal
* Able to use initiative to solve problems
* Commitment to lifelong learning
* Ability to speak Welsh
