Mental Health Specialist Mentor Location: University of Portsmouth Rate of Pay: £28 per hour £3.38 accrued holiday pay Contract: Part-time, with flexible hours Start Date: September 2026 (for the new 2026/2027 Academic Year) Relevant professional body memberships BACP, BPS, HCPC, NCPS, NMC, SWE, SCW, UMHAN, or COSCA Randstad Student Support is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Specialist Mentor to provide individualized support to neurodiverse learners within a higher education setting. This role is vital in ensuring student well-being and success. Position description / Job description Develop and implement personalized support plans tailored to individual student needs. Provide high-quality mental health guidance and counseling services. Collaborate effectively with university support staff, including academic advisors and disability services. Guide and support students in navigating academic challenges and personal growth. Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress. Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to the overall improvement of support services. Stay abreast of current best practices and emerging trends in mental health support for neurodiverse individuals. Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student well-being. Expectations / Requirements We're looking for you, if: You hold relevant professional body registration (BACP, BPS, HCPC, etc.). You possess proven experience supporting students' mental health needs. You demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse student populations. You have a bachelor's degree (advantageous). You are a team player with a commitment to collaborative support. You possess strong organizational and time-management skills.
