Interim Financial Controller (3–6 months)

£DOE | Immediate Start Preferred | Xero Experience Required
We’re supporting a growing business in Nottingham that’s looking for an experienced Interim Financial Controller to provide hands-on leadership and stability while they wait for their permanent CFO to start.
This is a key role to ensure financial continuity, improve processes, and support the finance team during a period of transition.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee day-to-day finance operations using Xero, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
* Lead the month-end and year-end close process, producing high-quality management accounts
* Own cashflow forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis
* Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, maintaining morale and focus
* Ensure compliance with financial regulations and support audit processes
* Deliver clear, commercial insights to senior stakeholders
* Prepare a smooth, structured handover for the incoming CFO
What We’re Looking For:
* Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
* Strong Financial Controller or Head of Finance background, ideally in fast-paced or PE-backed environments
* Proven track record of stabilising finance functions during times of change
* Solid experience with Xero – confident using it as a core finance tool
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is a MUST
* Collaborative, hands-on and commercially minded
* Based within commutable distance of Nottingham – hybrid working, ideally 2–3 days/week on-site
* Day rate dependant upon experience
