Overview
IT Solutions Specialist / IT Business Analyst at AO Recycling. The role involves leading data gathering, analysis, and business change; delivering and supporting IT projects from conception to execution; and driving operational improvements across the business. You will collaborate with business functions across the group, leverage AO resources, and work in Telford and at the HQ in Bolton. The ideal candidate has a few years of IT project delivery experience, is proactive about innovative technology solutions, and is fluent in SQL with SQL Reporting Services. Basic networking knowledge is desirable. There is potential for progression into a Project Manager or Delivery Lead role over time.

What You’ll Be Doing
* Project Delivery: Lead and manage IT projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery in line with business objectives. Include planning, execution, and post-implementation support.
* Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document business requirements. Ensure technical specifications are communicated to development teams.
* SQL and Reporting: Develop, maintain, and optimise SQL queries to support business processes. Design and deliver custom reports using SQL Reporting Services to provide actionable insights and data visualisation for stakeholders.
* Problem Solving: Identify and address technical challenges and roadblocks; provide troubleshooting and support across the IT ecosystem.
* Networking Issues Diagnosis: Use basic networking knowledge to diagnose and resolve common networking issues, such as connectivity problems, IP conflicts, and performance issues.
* Collaboration with Third-Party Developers: Work with external developers and vendors to implement and integrate IT solutions; ensure smooth communication between internal teams and external partners.
* Collaboration with Group IT Functions: Align with corporate IT standards, security policies, and best practices; collaborate on global initiatives to ensure scalability and compatibility.
* Advocacy for New Technology: Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends; advocate for integration of new tools and solutions that drive efficiency and performance.
* Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with various departments to align IT initiatives; provide technical guidance based on business needs.
* Support and Maintenance: Assist with maintenance, upgrades, and ongoing support of IT systems to keep them optimised.
* Documentation: Create and maintain clear technical documentation for projects and systems; create test scripts, UAT processes, and acceptance criteria.
A Few Things About You
* Degree (minimum 2:1) in computer science
* Relevant 3-4 years experience in IT
* Experience in IT project management and delivery
* Proven experience in requirements gathering, business analysis, translating business needs into technical solutions, with strong communication skills for non-technical stakeholders
* Power Apps and Power Automate knowledge would be beneficial but not mandatory
* Familiarity with SQL and experience with SQL Reporting Services for report development, maintenance, and optimisation
* Basic networking knowledge to diagnose common networking issues
* Experience working with internal and external developers and vendors to implement IT solutions aligned with corporate standards
* Excellent problem-solving abilities with a solutions-oriented approach
* Experience working in cross-functional teams and managing multiple stakeholders
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
