Social Worker – Older People’s Mental Health
Bracknell Forest Borough Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Older People’s Mental Health (OPMH) service on a temporary contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Social Worker with 2+ years’ post‑qualifying experience to work within a supportive local authority team, applying strength‑based and person‑centred practice to improve outcomes for residents.

* Rate: £37.90 umbrella
* Contract: Temporary
* Working Pattern: Full‑time
* Service Area: Older People’s Mental Health
Key Responsibilities
* Apply a strength‑based approach to support individuals by connecting them with their communities and social networks.
* Work collaboratively with service users, carers and advocates to develop person‑centred, outcome‑focused care plans that maximise independence, choice and control.
* Act in the best interests of individuals lacking capacity, in line with the Mental Capacity Act (2005).
* Support the arrangement, implementation and review of person‑centred plans.
* Operate within relevant legislation, national and local policy, and social work best practice.
* Maintain accurate and timely case recording, sharing information appropriately in line with legislation and local procedures.
* Undertake the role of Safeguarding Assessing Officer where required.
* Participate in the Duty Rota.
* Manage a caseload appropriate to experience and service needs.
* Take an active role in professional supervision.
* Be professionally accountable for all aspects of practice.
Qualifications / Requirements
* Social work qualification (Degree / DipSW / equivalent)
* Social Work England registration
* Right to work in the UK
* Minimum 2 years’ post‑qualifying experience
* Experience within Older People’s Mental Health and/or Adult Social Care
* Strong knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding legislation.
* Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a team.
