Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity review Permanent, Working 36.5 hours per week. The role is hybrid however the post holder would be required to work from Birmingham City Council buildings as business needs dictate. Birmingham City Council is seeking a dedicated Children Missing Education (CME) Manager to join our Children and Families Directorate. In this pivotal role, you will lead efforts to identify, locate, and support children missing from education, ensuring they are promptly tracked and provided with the necessary educational opportunities. As the CME Manager, you will be responsible for managing the CME referral management system and associated databases to ensure the prompt identification and tracking of children missing from education. You will lead the development and implementation of CME policies and processes, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements under Section 436A of the Education Act 1996. Your role will involve producing regular reports, participating in quality assurance frameworks, and developing training resources for staff, schools, and external partners. In this role, you will work collaboratively with the Out of Sight Service Lead and other stakeholders to promote creative partnerships and improve CME outcomes. You will lead performance management across the CME team, develop strategic information-sharing agreements, and support the preparation of formal corporate governance reports. Additionally, you will provide targeted advice and resolution options for complex cases, ensuring effective responses to safeguarding issues. The ideal candidate will be educated to a degree level in Education, Social Work, or a related field, with significant experience in managing and leading staff in education or family support services. You should have a strong understanding of relevant policies, practices, and legislative frameworks, along with excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills. The ability to manage conflicting demands and work under pressure is essential.
