Electrician – Healthcare Facilities

Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £43,925 per annum
⏰ Hours: 40 hours per week (including participation in on-call and 7-day cover rota)

Location: Hospital site in Romford
The Role
We’re seeking a skilled Electrician to join the Estates team at a busy hospital facility. This vital role involves maintaining and improving critical electrical systems that support patient care, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance in a demanding healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safely operate and maintain a wide range of electrical plant and equipment across the hospital
2. Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM), statutory inspections, and reactive repairs in line with organisational and NHS Trust standards
3. Diagnose and repair complex faults across electrical distribution, lighting, fire detection, nurse call, HVAC, access control, and standby generator systems
4. Provide technical advice, liaise with contractors and suppliers, and ensure full compliance with Health & Safety and IET regulations
5. Use CAFM systems to manage work orders and maintain accurate documentation
6. Participate in the on-call rota, providing emergency support 24/7 as part of a dedicated engineering team
About You
7. Completion of a recognised electrical apprenticeship or structured training programme
8. City & Guilds (or equivalent) qualifications in Electrical Engineering
9. Proven experience in a maintenance environment (healthcare experience desirable)
10. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, statutory compliance, and Health & Safety legislation
11. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
12. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
13. Willingness to undertake specialist training (e.g., Authorised Person – LV)
