About You
You are an experienced Quality Improvement Engineer with a strong background in manufacturing and a proactive approach to safety, quality and continuous improvement. You lead by example, promoting safe working practices and a culture of accountability.
You are confident using structured problem-solving tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone and FMEA to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventative actions. You can analyse quality data, track performance metrics and clearly present findings to support decision-making.
Comfortable working cross-functionally with Production, Engineering and Quality teams, you build strong relationships and drive improvements collaboratively. With a solid understanding of lean principles, you focus on reducing defects, improving process capability and eliminating waste. You are commercially aware, understanding the impact of rework, scrap and warranty claims, and can support cost-benefit and ROI analysis.
You maintain strong awareness of business processes, quality standards and health and safety requirements in your daily work.
About the Role
You will support a strong safety culture, reinforce safe working practices and help maintain a clean, compliant production environment.
The role involves leading and supporting root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects to reduce defects and improve overall quality performance. Working with the Quality Manager, you will drive improvement initiatives and monitor their effectiveness.
You will collaborate with Production and Engineering to remove bottlenecks, resolve quality issues quickly and improve flow and schedule adherence. By participating in production meetings, you will identify trends, highlight risks and ensure timely action to minimise downtime.
A key focus will be reducing the cost of poor quality through systemic improvements. You will track quality metrics, provide cost-benefit analysis and support reporting on cost savings and ROI. You will also work closely with commissioning and testing teams to ensure improvements are practical, sustainable and aligned with business objectives.
ABG is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from all who meet the criteria.
If you are looking for your next step in engineering, we would love to hear from you.
