 
        
        Overview
The HSSE Specialist, under the supervision of the HSSEQ Director, is responsible for implementing and monitoring site-specific HSSE operations and tasks. You will be the primary contact for employees concerning safety-related matters and will apply HSSEQ programmes. You will maintain and improve the HSSE (Q) Management systems to ensure compliance with ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015, and support ISO 9001:2015. You will communicate company strategies, policies and management system requirements for health & safety to the business and projects, provide HSSE support to UK & international projects, and promote high standards in Environment, Safety, Health and Security.
Responsibilities
 * Maintain and improve HSSE (Q) Management systems to comply with ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015 and support ISO 9001:2015.
 * Serve as the primary contact for employees on safety-related matters and ensure HSSEQ programmes are applied.
 * Provide HSSE functional support to the business and projects; communicate strategies, policies and system requirements for health & safety.
 * Lead development and execution of project HSSE deliverables and associated documentation.
 * Carry out risk assessments, develop safe systems of work and promote safe practices at site.
 * Monitor and assess hazardous work and carry out interventions as required.
 * Conduct site safety inspections and ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work and HSSE processes.
 * Conduct internal and external audits; organise and manage third-party audits from certification bodies.
 * Investigate incidents and promote learning and improvement through briefings, toolbox talks and presentations.
 * Provide HSSE support to UK & international projects (travel required) and interact with customers as needed.
 * Deliver internal training and inductions; manage HSSE databases, compliance registers and trend analysis.
 * Support health and wellbeing surveillance and initiatives.
Qualifications
 * The ideal candidate will be degree qualified (or equal) with several years of relevant work experience, preferably within the renewable energy/oil & gas sector.
 * A first-rate communicator who can build strong rapport with a diverse range of people.
 * Comfortable working in a range of environments: from office to supplier sites and client facilities.
 * Self-motivated and persistent in achieving goals; adaptable to unexpected challenges.
 * Committed and diligent in solving problems, both individually and in teams.
 * Genuine interest in people and supporting wellbeing.
Other information
 * A valid driving licence is required.
 * A willingness to travel both in the UK and abroad is required.
 * Successful applicants will be primarily based at our head office in the North East of England.
