Overall Purpose of the Role
The Production Technician Supervisor will lead and manage a team of Production Technicians, overseeing the assembly, repair, and testing of life‑saving gas detection equipment used across military, laboratory, and diving applications among others. This role is critical to ensuring exceptional product quality, operational efficiency, and high levels of customer satisfaction.
The Supervisor will provide day‑to‑day leadership, motivation, and coaching, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures, production schedules, safety regulations and quality standards. The role also requires collaboration with other departments to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Main Responsibilities
* Manage, coach, and develop direct reports, fostering a motivated and high‑performing team.
* Promote open communication and a culture of collaboration and accountability.
* Conduct regular 1‑2‑1s, team meetings, and performance reviews to maintain alignment with operational goals.
* Identify and resolve issues, elevate as appropriate, and ensure effective conflict resolution.
* Drive continuous improvement through monitoring KPIs, implementing corrective actions, and sharing best practices.
Operational Responsibilities
* Oversee production activities and ensure work aligns with SOPs, quality standards, and customer requirements.
* Independently inspect and verify build/repair phases and components from receipt to dispatch if required.
* Allocate and prioritise tasks effectively to meet production targets and deadlines.
* Ensure accurate logging of production data, job times, and KPI metrics.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment in line with HSE regulations.
* Operate gases, tools, and mechanical equipment safely according to training and company guidelines.
* Assembly and testing of Analox products, including soldering, wire looms, mechanical assembly, and adhesive applications.
* Ability to work with precision, attention to detail, and maintain quality standards under pressure.
* Support cross‑functional projects and flexible allocation of tasks across different production areas.
* Work closely with colleagues across departments to improve processes and share knowledge.
* Support the adoption of digital tools, including ERP and shop floor data systems, to enhance efficiency and traceability.

Person Specification
Education
* HNC or equivalent experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline.
* Demonstrable understanding of HSE and quality standards in a manufacturing environment.
* Understanding of manufacturing workflows and quality control.
* Awareness of continuous improvement methodologies and root cause analysis tools.
* HND or Degree in Manufacturing/Engineering.
* Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement training.
* First Aid, Fire Marshal, or Health & Safety qualification.
* Formal training or certification in team leadership or supervision.
* Knowledge of Analox products or gas detection technologies.
* Understanding of ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
* Knowledge of HSE requirements and risk assessments.
