Our client, a respected healthcare organisation, is seeking a highly capable Rota Manager to lead and coordinate medical staffing within their Plastics department. This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy clinical service, ensuring safe rota cover, smooth operational delivery and excellent patient care. You’ll work closely with consultants, junior doctors, service coordinators and clinical teams, using your strong communication and organisational skills to ensure services run efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
* Manage rotas for consultants, registrars and junior doctors
* Identify rota gaps and arrange safe cover
* Liaise daily with clinical teams and medical staffing
* Lead the weekly rota and scheduling meetings
* Approve annual leave, study leave and timesheets
* Coordinate locum recruitment and shift approvals
* Ensure compliance with the Working Time Directive
* Support induction and mandatory training monitoring
* Provide day‑to‑day leadership to the rota coordinator
* Manage sickness, absence and return‑to‑work processes
* Contribute to job plan updates and rota template changes
* Monitor additional hours and locum costs
* Assist with waiting list initiatives and service planning
* Produce on-call rotas and ensure EWTD compliance
* Move medical staff across specialities to ensure safe cover
* Support performance discussions with educational supervisors
* Maintain accurate records of all medical staff
* Report risks, incidents and near-misses appropriately
* Lead or support service improvement projects as required
Person Requirements:
* Significant NHS administrative experience
* Strong rota management background
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills
* Advanced Excel and IT literacy
* Ability to work under pressure and handle complex information
* Confident, resilient, organised and proactive
* Experience supervising staff
