Willowtown Primary School is a successful and well-established primary school located in Ebbw Vale. The school has a strong vision to assist every child to become the best that they can be; mentally, physically, emotionally and socially.
The school currently has 420 pupils on role (not including Nursery) and a dedicated team of teaching and support staff.
The Governors are seeking to appoint an extremely motivated, innovative, excellent and inspirational class teacher who is committed to promoting high standards and developing teaching and learning of the highest quality.
The successful candidate will:
•Be an excellent classroom practitioner and have the ability to motivate and engage learners through the delivery of purposeful, high-quality learning experiences.
•Be a teacher who is engaging, caring, full of enthusiasm and has an exemplary work ethic.
•Have a deep understanding of effective pedagogy and how assessment is a fundamental part of excellent learning and teaching.
•Have a sound knowledge of the Curriculum for Wales; particularly the cross-curricular requirements.
•Be highly motivated and hold equally high expectations of our children’s achievements, their behaviour, and skills development.
•Establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, pupils, parents/carers, the Governing Body and wider community
Thorough pre-employment screening is undertaken during the recruitment process. The post holder will be required to complete an application for a Disclosure of Criminal Records.
This post requires a registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) under the category of School Teacher and registration will need to be in place prior to commencement in the role.
•Closing Date: 5 pm Monday 4th May 2026
•Shortlisting: Tuesday 5th May 2026
•Lesson Observations: Tuesday/Wednesday 12th 13th May 2026 at Willowtown Primary School or at current school.
•Subject to a successful lesson observation, candidates will be invited to interview on: Thursday 14th May 2026
