Job Role: Cleaning Supervisor
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, 5 out of 7 days – flexible shift times including 6am starts, 11pm finishes, and weekends
Pay: £12.73 per hour

Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Anchor Group Services, for an experienced Cleaning Supervisor to join our established cleaning team based at Waverley Market in Edinburgh. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day‑to‑day supervision of the onsite cleaning team, ensuring the highest cleaning standards are adhered to at all times. You will carry out a range of cleaning tasks safely and professionally to a high standard. This is a hands‑on leadership role, requiring strong organisational skills, attention to detail, effective communication at all levels, and flexibility to support the team as needed.
A background in facilities or cleaning with supervisory experience is required. The role requires working 40 hours per week as per the site rota, with varying shift times (including 6am starts, 11pm finishes, and weekends). Flexibility is essential.
Duties
* Supervise, support, and motivate the cleaning team to deliver consistently high standards across the centre.
* Act as a visible, proactive leader, setting standards and leading by example.
* Carry out cleaning of designated areas, following site‑specific instructions.
* Ensure compliance with all health & safety and COSHH requirements.
* Be a visible point of contact in the centre – respond to customer requests promptly and courteously, maintaining excellent customer service at all times.
* Manage staff welfare checks, support, absence management, and wellbeing.
* Monitor cleaning equipment and stock levels, reporting any issues to the management team.
* Conduct regular inspections of the centre, reporting issues and ensuring high standards are maintained.
* Work closely with management and be flexible in supporting additional tasks to keep the centre running smoothly.
* Ensure all mandatory e‑learning is completed.
Requirements
* Previous supervisory or team‑leading experience in cleaning or facilities services.
* Customer service experience and confidence to handle conflict appropriately.
* Flexibility to meet the job requirements.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Smart appearance and well‑groomed.
* Reliable and punctual.
* High enthusiasm and passion.
* Ability to work in a fast‑moving environment.
* Comfortable using digital systems such as Timegate, Zoho, and OMNI.
