This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this position is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. Continual improvement and standardisation of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems are core components of this role. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, industry guidelines, and promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Work with medics/HSEAs and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazard categories, hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required exposure monitoring/health surveillance programs.
2. Deliver occupational hygiene plans related to chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic exposures, including but not limited to:
* Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
* Chemical workplace exposure monitoring (e.g., benzene, toluene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, cement-based products, welding fumes, toxic gases)
* Asbestos Management, surveys, and exposure assessments
* Noise and vibration management and assessments
* Radiation management and assessments
* Thermal hazard assessment
* Potable water management
* Communicable diseases, mould, spores, animal and insect hazards, DSE, fatigue
Recommend and design control strategies, monitor their effectiveness, and deliver occupational hygiene training (e.g., asbestos awareness, PPE/RPE use and maintenance). Ensure assurance processes such as inspections and audits are conducted across all operational sites, including support centers and NUIs, covering occupational health and hygiene standards, guidelines, and procedures. Maintain calibration systems for hygiene equipment.
Key Requirements Include:
* Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene, via:
* Qualifying BOHS accredited degree or
* Combination of BOHS W & P modules
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in occupational hygiene, including measurement techniques
* Drive and passion to champion occupational hygiene and workplace health risks, influencing management and workforce
* Excellent communication skills for presentations and diverse forums
* Ability to meet tight deadlines and produce high-standard work
