The School is seeking to appoint a highly effective Teaching Assistant to deliver high quality SEND support for learning and to provide excellent care of a named child with an Education, Health and Care Plan from September in the Senior School who is beginning their GCSE studies. Relevant qualifications are required as is enthusiasm, reliability, and a genuine affinity for working with children are essential qualities for this post. The role would suit a person working as an HLTA in their current setting.
Working up to 37.5 hours per week, start and finish times will vary between 08:30 and 16.00, dependent on the named child's timetable at the start of each academic year.

Job Description
Summary of the role: The Teaching Assistant will deliver high quality SEND support for learning in the classroom working with a team of staff to provide excellent care of a named child / young person in the Senior School who is beginning their GCSE studies.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for who you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.
* Support student consistently while recognising and responding to their individual SEMH needs from a person-centred approach.
Physical, Social, Emotional and Mental Health Support
* Assisting pupil to regulate their sensory needs
* Supporting pupil to regulate anxiety and wider emotional regulation in lessons
* Support teachers to ensure provision of low arousal learning environments
* Develop a trusting and nurturing relationship with the child / young person to support development of self-advocacy and self-confidence and independence
* To carry out duties under the direction and supervision of the School Counsellor and HIL.
Pupil Learning and Curriculum Content
* Assisting the class teachers in the implementation of set tasks for the named child / young person or small group of pupils.
* Helping to raise standards of achievement of named child / young person.
* Recording observations of child / young person to inform the class teacher's planning and assessment and pupils learning, the annual review of named child / young person's EHCP and SEMH support from School Counsellor
* Providing feedback to pupil(s) in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher.
* Where necessary, accompanying named child / young person and teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities.
Learning and Supporting Strategies
* Helping to implement lesson plans and encouraging named child to stay on task.
* Supporting pupil to access the subject matter provided by the class teacher through person centred SEND based strategies
* Assisting in the development of varying skills that supports the child / young person's learning skills.
* Assisting in the production and implementation of teaching aids.
* Implement School policies surrounding teaching and learning, behaviour etc.
* When necessary, supporting the teacher in managing child / young person's behaviour, reporting difficulties as appropriate.
* To provide individual support, as required, during tests and examination sessions.
* Support child / young person to organise their time and effectively utilise independent study sessions.
* Plan and deliver 1:1 interventions / sessions for child / young person to support with their classroom learning, using person centred SEND based strategies
The Classroom Environment
* Assisting in providing an atmosphere in which effective learning can take place, adapting the environment based on individual's needs.
* Modelling good practice of teaching and learning.
* Encourage acceptance and inclusion of all pupils.
Working Relationships
* Building a strong and trusted relationship with named child and their family, in liaison with HIL.
* To communicate and pass on information to the School Counsellor and HIL regarding child / young person's holistic progress.
* Work with School Counsellor and HIL to understand and act upon aims, objectives and targets of both EHCP and Student Support Plans
* Developing positive relationships with the pupils to assist child / young person progress and attainment and maintain good discipline.
* Helping to ensure the inclusion of all children particularly the named child /young person.
* Providing feedback to teachers and Head of Key Stage
* Effective functional relationships with wider Individual Learning Team
Personal and Social Care
* Developing named child / young person's personal and social skills, through targeted intervention.
* Assisting in the personal and social care of pupils and in the development of related skills.
* Supporting teaching staff in providing for the safe supervision of pupils inside and outside the classroom.
* Assisting in the general welfare of all pupils.
Key Accountabilities
* Delivering high quality SEND support for SEMH, academic learning and pastoral care of named child / young person.
* Supervising pupils as appropriate and assisting with other school and curricular activities as directed (at a level that is consistent with the status and grading of the post).
* Looking after the personal health and safety of the pupils in accordance with the school's policies and practices.
Administrative Duties
* Providing written feedback on the progress of named child / young person in preparation for Education, Health and Care Plan reviews and any additional reviews, as and when required.
* Regularly communicating with parents regarding name child / young person's progress and support strategies.
* To take part in training activities offered by the school to further knowledge and skills of working with a child / young person with specific learning difficulties.

Qualifications
Essential:
* English and Mathematics GCSE Grade C or above
* Appropriate SEND qualifications and/or training for Teaching Assistants working with a child with ASD
