Salary: £40-45k (Dependent upon Experience). Potential for performance-based bonus. Hours: 37.5 hours per week Contract Type: Permanent Location: Hybrid. Team members will be expected to work regularly from our Chester HQ, with additional flexibility for remote working and collaboration. We also have quarterly team meetups to foster team cohesion and innovation. Travel: Some travel within the UK is required. Job Description As a Senior Project Manager at SoMoCo, you will play a critical role in the successful delivery of behavioural science projects across the transport, mobility and sustainability sectors, as well as leading key internal initiatives. You will ensure our projects are well-planned, fully executed, and exceed client expectations. This is a pivotal role at the heart of a growing consultancy, offering the opportunity to lead on delivery excellence, build trusted client relationships, and help shape the systems that support scalable impact. Key Responsibilities Project Management: Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring they are completed on time, to cost, and within scope to a high standard. Process and Planning: Develop project plans, manage timelines and budgets, coordinate resources, and track project milestones using appropriate tools and methodologies. Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on project delivery matters, ensuring clear communication, managing expectations, and building trusted relationships. Team Coordination: Work closely with the whole team to ensure smooth collaboration, task ownership, and resource allocation. Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards in project outputs and documentation. Support internal review processes and drive continuous improvements in delivery practices. Risk and Issue Management: Proactively identify and manage project risks, issues and dependencies. Work collaboratively to mitigate risks, resolve issues and ensure continuity. Reporting: Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders and clients through project updates, daily stand ups, monthly business reviews, and client check-ins. Business Support: Play an active role in driving SoMoCo’s growth by overseeing internal projects that enhance our operational effectiveness, delivery frameworks, and knowledge management systems. Contribute to the development of new products and support proposal development and pitch preparation as we expand our client base and capabilities. Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications Essential: At least 5 years' experience in project management, ideally within a consultancy, agency, or research-based environment. Demonstrable experience of managing complex and multi-stakeholder projects end-to-end. Knowledge of various project management methodologies (e.g. Agile, PRINCE2) and experience using project management tools (e.g. Avaza – preferable) Excellent planning and organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and manage relationships with diverse clients and internal teams. Ability to juggle multiple priorities, work under pressure, and adapt to changing contexts with ease. Confidence in managing budgets, timelines, contracts, and scopes of work. Desirable: Formal project management qualification (e.g. APMG Agile, PRINCE2). Experience working on research or behavioural science-focused projects. Familiarity with data-led or evaluation projects. An understanding of behavioural science or a related field and an enthusiasm for enabling behavioural impact. Experience working with clients in both the public and private sectors. Experience working or delivering projects in the transport, mobility, or sustainability sectors. Skills: Clear and confident communicator, both verbal and written. Strong problem-solving mindset with a calm, solution-oriented approach to challenges. Proactive, self-directed and comfortable working in ambiguity. Team player who enjoys supporting others and enabling success through effective coordination. A systems thinker who enjoys building and improving internal processes and ways of working.
