Overview

Depending on Experience / 30 – 40 hours per week | Term-time and school-hours working considered


Key Responsibilities

* Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
* Prepare and post monthly journals; reconcile balance sheet accounts.
* Investigate and resolve account discrepancies and maintain orderly ledgers.
* Support good internal controls and suggest process improvements.
* Reconcile daily till takings and inter-departmental transfers.
* Raise sales ledger invoices and ensure accurate VAT treatment.
* Liaise with customers, monitor outstanding debts and follow up as needed.
* Process customer direct debit mandates and collections.
* Conduct bank account reconciliations and weekly transaction postings.
* Process monthly employee expense claims.
* Support the Finance Manager with ad hoc tasks as required.


About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, accurate, and confident in a financial environment. Ideally, you will have:

* A recognised accountancy qualification (e.g. AAT) or equivalent experience.
* Experience working with the finances of a busy organisation, especially balance sheet reconciliations.
* Good IT skills, including Excel and finance systems.
* Familiarity with EPOS systems is desirable.
* Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a proactive, solution-focused attitude.
* Experience working within an SME or owner-managed business would be beneficial.
