About the Role
The successful teaching assistant will work closely with class teachers to support pupils’ learning, provide 1:1 or small‑group intervention, and help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere. You will be based in one school, enabling you to build strong, consistent relationships with staff and pupils.
What the School Is Looking For (Desirable Criteria)
The school is seeking a teaching assistant who has:
Desirable: Experience with behaviour management
Desirable: Some experience supporting pupils with SEN (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or other needs)
Desirable: A calm, patient, and proactive approach
Desirable: The ability to work well within a team
Graduates are preferred, especially those considering a future in teaching or educational support.
Candidates must also be able to travel within Tameside, as the school is easily accessible but may require short commutes depending on your location.
The school welcomes experienced teaching assistants as well as individuals with transferable experience (care, youth work, sports coaching) who are keen to develop into a teaching assistant role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
