Learning Support Assistant Location: Sunderland Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (Monday to Friday) About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join the team. This rewarding role involves supporting children aged 11-19 with complex special educational needs, helping them to access learning opportunities and develop independence within a safe, nurturing environment. The school boasts extensive grounds and excellent tailored facilities, including a therapy pool and sensory garden. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide tailored support, both in the classroom and during structured activities throughout the school day. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex needs. Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and personalised learning strategies. Support pupils with communication, sensory, physical, and behavioural needs. Assist with personal care where required, including toileting, feeding, and mobility support, maintaining dignity and respect at all times. Promote pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development. Help create an inclusive, positive, and stimulating learning environment.
