Role Overview As a Bridge Engineer, you'll work on a variety of inspection and structural investigation projects-from single-span bridges to large-scale transport networks. Key Responsibilities: Carry out and oversee bridge inspections, structural reviews, and condition assessments Support in delivering asset management and stock condition programmes Use a range of access methods (MEWPs, pontoons, drones, roped access) to assess structural health Prepare high-quality inspection reports, structural commentary, and recommendations Coordinate site access, permits, safety plans, and liaise with stakeholders Assist in planning and managing technical inspection programmes What We're Looking For Essential: Recognised qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering (e.g., BEng, HND, HNC) Experience in bridge inspections, assessments, or structural investigations Familiarity with relevant standards (e.g., CS 450, BD63/17, NR/L3/CIV/006) Strong communication and report-writing skills Full UK driving licence Desirable (Not essential): LANTRA BICS certification Experience with NDT, BA35/90, or post-tensioned structure investigations Certifications: PTS, CSCS, IPAF, PASMA, or Confined Space Familiarity with inspection platforms (e.g., SMIS, Agile, Bridge Station) Rope access or marine/boat-based access experience What's on Offer Competitive salary (£40k-£55k depending on experience) Flexible/hybrid working arrangements Ongoing CPD and support for certifications Diverse, challenging projects across the UK (with occasional overseas work) Strong team culture with regular social events and a focus on wellbeing If interested in this position, but perhaps would like to find out more before formally applying, please contact Taylor Smith at Calibre Search Manchester.
