Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Team Leader to join our friendly team in Evesham on a full-time permanent basis.
As the Transport Team Leader, you will be responsible for daily planning of company and third-party resources, ensuring that all vehicles and drivers are given clear, precise instructions, and are fully utilized.
You will lead a team to ensure that all service levels are met cost-effectively and within the constraints of drivers' hours and H & S regulations.
Working Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 21:30-07:30.
Key Duties of a Transport Team Leader:
* Ensure effective communication of all job elements to all parties, particularly drivers and sub-contractors.
* Plan the effective utilization of drivers, vehicles, sub-contractors, and agencies, considering all company sites.
* Ensure the team works within a safe environment and follows driver hours regulations.
* Liaise with retail department teams to optimize fleet/driver utilization and resolve delivery issues.
* Assist in controlling equipment to meet and record customer requirements.
* Liaise with customers regarding present or future developments.
* Support and, if necessary, provide cover for the Transport Operations Manager in meetings or customer visits.
* Ensure all vehicle and trailer services are completed on time.
* Oversee the application of the company’s absence policy, monitor absence levels, and conduct return-to-work discussions.
* Identify training and development needs for team members and organize coaching or training solutions.
Qualifications
* Experience working within a distribution/transport environment.
* Sound geographical knowledge.
* Knowledge and experience of tachograph, driving rules, and regulations.
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office packages.
* The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
* Able to work as part of a team or individually.
