About the Role
We are looking for two reliable and organised Business Support Officer - Corporate Mail Room Service to join our busy team. This is a varied and hands-on role responsible for the secure and efficient handling of incoming, internal and outgoing mail parcels across Council services and undertaking driving delivery duties across Sheffield.
The role does require attendance at work between 08.00 and 17.00 to ensure effective sorting and delivery of in and outgoing mail
You will play a key part in ensuring that information is processed safely, accurately and in line with standard operating procedures and Royal Mail requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Receive, sort, allocate and distribute incoming, internal and outgoing physical and scanned mail and parcels, always ensuring confidentiality and security of information.
2. Operate mailroom and print equipment including printing, collation, franking and digital scanning systems.
3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including data input, stock control, work logs and file management.
4. Support team members and contractors with induction and training as required.
5. Undertake relevant training and development to maintain service standards.
6. Drive a Council vehicle when required, complying with the Drivers Handbook, licence checking procedures and vehicle safety checks.
7. Travel to various locations within and outside the city to meet service needs.
About You
You will:
8. Ideally have experience working in a mailroom, administrative or similar operational environment.
9. Be organised, methodical and able to manage competing priorities.
10. Demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
11. Be comfortable using printing and scanning equipment.
12. Hold a full, valid driving licence and be willing to undertake driving assessments if required.
13. Be flexible and willing to work at different locations as required by the service.
14. Be committed to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information securely.
15. Level 2 qualification according to National Qualifications framework e.g. 5 GCSE grades A* - C including maths and English.
