Section Engineer
VolkerWessels UK - join as a Section Engineer in Plymouth on a prestigious long-term project.
Requirement: Must be a UK National and able to pass security clearance.
Responsibilities
Accountable for all engineering duties and ensuring any engineers under their control complete their duties. Educate and mentor the engineering team.
* Prepare and input into RAMS, temporary works briefs, ITP's, weekly progress and planning updates, NCR's, TQs and Early Warnings.
* Manage self-delivery and subcontracted works.
* Accountable for:
o SHE performance at site level to support Line Manager.
o Quality performance at site level with regard to standards of both workmanship and documentation.
o Accuracy of engineering controls and performance and management of site engineering team.
* Dimensional Control:
o Ensure timely and accurate dimensional control for the construction of the works.
o Ensure that accurate setting‑out and control is provided and checked (direct or subcontractors).
o Establish accurate and clear setting‑out on the ground.
o Communicate clearly to subcontract personnel operatives about setting‑out usage.
o Set‑out in advance to allow time for secondary checks.
o Maintain long‑term setting‑out and project stations.
o Instrument calibration and testing.
* Quality:
o Produce and implement the Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for your section.
o Ensure quality checks are carried out and records kept.
o Raise Requests For Information (RFIs) and Technical Queries (TQs).
o Input into production of as‑built documentation from site.
o Keep accurate records – diaries, photographs, marked‑up drawings, etc.
o Ensure implementation of the quality management system where it affects daily activities.
o Support Quality Ripple initiatives and the SMP.
* Health & Safety:
o Ensure safe working of your section of the site.
o Apply all HSEQS policies and procedures where appropriate.
o Act as existing services coordinator and temporary works supervisor.
o Ensure all required permits are adhered to.
o Input into production / review / monitoring of RAMS.
o Engage in Safety Ripple programme.
o Provide input to health & safety plan, risk assessments, method statements and task briefings.
o Develop short to medium term programme for your section of the project.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
* 5 years' experience.
* Working towards professional certification.
* Proven technical organisational skills.
* Knowledge of requirements and implementation of safety and quality systems.
* Ability to produce work package plans, task briefing sheets and safe systems of work.
* UK National.
