Analytical Instrument Service Engineer – Southampton
We are hiring for an on‑site Analytical Instrument Service Engineer to maintain and generally service all the HPLC’s, Gas and liquid chromatography instruments at an award‑winning laboratory facility in Southampton.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Laboratory Equipment Engineer who can undertake preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on HPLC’s, gas and liquid chromatographs using the latest analytical instrumentation.
The site is a state‑of‑the‑art £30 million R&D facility. It hosts a world‑class scientific team of over four hundred highly specialized engineers and scientists across nine technical spaces and laboratories. You will service, maintain, repair and troubleshoot instruments such as GC‑MS, HPLC and other analytical laboratory equipment – including Agilent, Waters, Thermo, Shimadzu and other leading brands.
Role Purpose
Our client is a leading global provider of laboratory facility management and laboratory equipment maintenance services. They have been awarded the contract to oversee all laboratory equipment asset management and maintenance at the Southampton site. As such, they are seeking a site‑based Analytical Instrument Service Engineer to provide in‑house maintenance and scientific equipment service engineering on site. The position requires on‑site presence five days a week to ensure that all analytical equipment remains operational each day.
What You’ll Do
As the site’s Analytical Instrument Engineer you will work within a team responsible for maintaining and repairing HPLC, GC‑MS and other analytical laboratory instruments to support daily laboratory operations to a regulated standard. Your work will include planned preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of complex analytical equipment.
What You’ll Need
* Ability to commute to the Southampton site Monday‑Friday – daily presence essential.
* Minimum 5 years of Analytical Laboratory Equipment Engineering experience as an Analytical Instrumentation Engineer, GC‑MS Maintenance Engineer or Laboratory Equipment Technician in a regulated laboratory, pharmaceutical or similar environment.
* Experience calibrating, servicing, maintaining or repairing Agilent, Waters, Thermo, Shimadzu or equivalent brands of chromatography, HPLC, GC‑MS equipment or similar analytical instrumentation.
