A fantastic SEN school in Windsor is recruiting for a Mental Health Mentor to join them ASAP. The alternative provision caters for children and young adults who have been excluded from mainstream education or are in a transition period before finding a place in a specialist setting. Many of the students have trauma, SEN, behavioural disorders and other mental health issues. The role will involve mentoring, teaching and supporting young people who are struggling to access education.
This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate or experienced teaching assistant to develop experience with Special Educational Needs and Behavioural Needs. A graduate with a degree graded 2:2 or above is ideal for this role and some previous experience working with SEN children is desirable. This position will involve working 1:1 with pupils with special needs and challenging behaviour in the school. The mentor will work closely with children who have mental health difficulties, display challenging behaviour and have learning disabilities such as autism. Degrees of particular interest would include psychology and criminology.
This school is looking for a confident, dedicated mentor who is enthusiastic and passionate about children’s education. Ideally, the successful assistant will have excellent behaviour management skills and desirably some form of restraint training. The mentor will work alongside fully trained therapists, psychologists and other professionals within the education and mental health field.
