Our Transmissions team has a fantastic opportunity for a Transmission Jointer to join them in Oldham.
Our role
Our Electrical Jointers are responsible for fault repairs on our transmission network working on solid, gas and oil cables, installing and terminating cables on our primary and grid substation plant.
As the successful candidate you will initially carry out the multiskilled craft role of a Transmission Jointer or Jointers mate, working on the 33kV / 132kV underground cable network. We will support you to develop your skills, gaining the relevant authorisations required to become a successful Transmission Jointer. It can take up to 3 years to complete your training.
What we’re looking for
* A minimum Electrical City & Guilds level 2;
* A willingness to work outside in all weathers;
* The ability to complete paperwork relating to work-based activities;
* A full UK driving licence (essential with categories B+E (desirable);
* Experience and an understanding of utility records;
* A customer focused approach with the ability to communicate with both internal and external customers;
* A NRSWA accreditation;
* Experience excavating, backfilling and reinstating to Highways Authorities and Utilities Committees (HAUC) specifications;
* Experience operating mechanical plant and equipment for excavation, backfill and reinstatement purposes;
* Previous experience in cable laying.
