The Role The Young Onset Dementia Team are a specialist multi-disciplinary team who work in partnership with other agencies to provide assessment, and management for adults under the age of 65 who have been diagnosed as living with dementia, who require secondary care mental health services across NHS Lanarkshire. Additional Information Specific to the Role The Senior Charge Nurse will work within a specialist multi-disciplinary team and in partnership with other agencies to provide assessment, care and treatment for people under the age of 65 who have been diagnosed as living with dementia who require secondary care mental health services across NHS Lanarkshire. The post holder will have a role assessing, collaborating and working with patients and families following their diagnosis. The post holder will be responsible for the planning and implementation of Post Diagnostic Support for patients. This is a management role and will require the successful candidate to undertake, Quality Improvement activity, line management of junior staff including one to one supervision and appraisal. Identifying Training and development needs for staff members. To have an active role in service development, to improve service delivery, within a specialist field of Mental Health Nursing. What we'll need you to bring Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration - Mental Health/Learning Disability Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently. Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice. Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice. Management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and continuous professional development Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills Effective time management skills Working knowledge of basic information technology Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
