Rutland County Council is seeking to appoint a Cultural and Visitor Economy Manager.

This is a pivotal role which will be intrinsic in fulfilling the Council’s Corporate ambition to build on and celebrate the rich heritage and culture of the County and will make a positive contribution to promoting the visitor economy as a central element in our new Economic Development Strategy.

You will be joining the Council at an exciting time as we are leading on a major reinvestment programme for Rutland County Museum so that it can house the recently found Ichthyosaur and provide new galleries for this and the exciting new find of the Ketton Roman Village – both finds are of national and international significance.

About you…

Educated to degree level or equivalent experience

* Previous experience of working in the visitor Economy or Cultural Services area
* Understanding bids, income streams and project management are important
* Experience of managing people
* Manage and prioritise a varied workload

About the role…

The role will have overall responsibility for the Council’s venues including Oakham Castle and Rutland County Museum, ensuring that the cultural opportunities and the visitor experience provided are attractive to residents and visitors to Rutland, and that commercial opportunities are realised to support delivery of the service.

Supporting the Head of Investment and Visitor Economy to deliver transformational change across the service it will play a key role in helping to shape and embed new ways of working, promoting revenue generating innovations which will help the service to grow and develop.

The Cultural and Visitor Economy Manager will be a passionate advocate for the culture and heritage in Rutland and will identify and create appropriate links with Council-wide teams, providing advice and guidance on all strategic issues relating to the Council’s cultural services and ensuring that future opportunities for the sector are represented positively.

Interviews will be held on the morning of 8 th and 9 th July 2025 at Catmose House, Oakham LE15 6HP

* Management role within a museum
* Management role within a visitor economy role
* Commercial manager within a visitor attraction or museum
