Trainee Quantity Surveyor at PCE Limited. This role measures the financial and physical performance of projects against order targets, assists in driving best value from suppliers/subcontractors and internal resources to maximise project profitability and company process improvements. Timely submission and negotiation of interim and final accounts with client/main contractor and agreement of those issued to PCE by the supply chain.
Responsibilities
* Develop a thorough understanding of the designated project specifications, pricing structures, programmes, and contractual conditions, upon which the PCE project offer is based
* Review, and assist with the negotiation and agreement of the Client/Main Contractor contract documentation in conjunction with the Commercial Director
* Assist other departments of the PCE team with pre-start planning and programming
* Assist with the supplier/subcontractor selection, analyse competitive offers, and help ensure the chosen supplier/subcontractor has the appropriate skill set and capability to deliver the works
* Place supplier/subcontractor orders with documentation that provides access to all required information to undertake the work while protecting the terms, conditions or obligations agreed by PCE with its client
* Be responsible for all supplier/sub-contract commercial management including variation accounts and processing of requests for payment
* Attend external and internal project meetings, recording actions, agreements and unresolved matters
* Record and track progress by internal departments and external suppliers/subcontractors against agreed project programmes
* Manage day-to-day company cost control, monitoring and reporting systems, and implement improvements agreed with the Commercial Director
* Change management control – identification, communication, costing, and assistance with resolution of changes to PCE’s scope of works
* Analyse internal reporting systems (design, procurement and construction) and site paperwork, providing feedback to Company Directors and the Commercial Director on quality and content
* Provide advice on commercial and contractual matters, including reviewing and drafting of correspondence and maintaining the central file/timeline
* Measure, value, submit and negotiate contract variations with the client and supply chain as necessary
* Communicate with PCE’s client on all project commercial matters, including timely production of substantiation for valuations, final accounts and retention releases to ensure receipt of payments per the contract
* Complete a monthly cost/valuation report and cash flow for each designated project
