Job overview

We are seeking a position of a ward clerk covering a 5 days service on The Mary Anning Unit. You need to be flexible and reliable to provide an efficient and effective reception service to patients, visitors and the wider multi-disciplinary team.

A flexible approach to a working shift pattern is required, this does not include night shifts. You will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills who can work well under pressure, using initiative & common sense.

Main duties of the job

The Mary Anning Unit is a busy, yet friendly place to work. The department is currently split over two areas with a total of 26 beds but will shortly be relocating to its former site with a maximum potential of 41 beds providing care of the older persons. The ward has a high volume of admissions and discharges, and prides itself on being a welcome and friendly environment for both our staff and patients.

You will be responsible for taking phone calls, liaising with the nursing team and booking transport for the patients, if required. You will also be required to maintain the electronic systems including PAS, Patient tracker and Electronic Discharge summaries ( EDS)

Experience of working in a busy environment is desirable but not essential. However, the ability to be a team player and have the desire to support the team in providing an excellent service for our patients, their families, & carers, most definitely is!
