Racial Justice Coordinator

We are seeking a Racial Justice Co-ordinator to lead and support the delivery of the racial justice strategy at the Diocese.

Position: Racial Justice Coordinator

Salary: £36,050 pa for full time or £28,840 for 30 hours per week

Location: Hybrid/Hove

Hours: Full or Part-time, (37.5 hours) or 0.8 (30 hours per week) - Flexitime

Contract: 3-year fixed term contract

Closing Date: 7th September 2025

Interview Date: Hove on 25th September 2025


About the Role

We are looking for a lay or ordained co-ordinator to be a passionate advocate for racial justice. Candidates will have a good understanding of the complexities and barriers for UKME/GMH people within the diocese and the ability to reflect on these from a theological perspective.

This is a key role in the life of the Diocese, acting as an advocate for racial justice, developing and delivering training in parishes and church schools, and recruiting and supporting deanery Racial Justice Advocates. You will collaborate with the Racial Justice Officer, the Racial Justice Committee, and diocesan leadership to support the Diocese's racial justice vision and inspire, challenge, and empower churches and schools to achieve this vision.


Principal Duties

1. Raising awareness of racial justice work in the Diocese and supporting its racial justice vision.
2. Planning, facilitating, and overseeing racial justice training and events for clergy, lay leaders, and schools.
3. Recruiting, training, and supporting deanery Racial Justice Advocates.
4. Supporting UKME/GMH vocations to lay and ordained ministry.
5. Monitoring and collecting data on racial justice projects' progress, impact, and outcomes.


About You

The ideal candidate will:

* Have a good understanding of the framework for racial justice and reflect on issues from a theological perspective.
* Be passionate about UKME/GMH people's role in God’s mission and support others in advocating for racial justice.
* Have experience in project planning and strong organizational skills.
* Be capable of planning and delivering training, and building and supporting networks.

Additional Information
