Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a small SEN Unit at a vibrant primary school in Chorley. This role is ideal for someone with significant experience in supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), specifically Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The position requires a compassionate individual who can start as soon as possible.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with a group of 7 children, all with ASD, ensuring they receive tailored support and care.
* Assist in the development and implementation of educational plans that meet the specific needs of each child.
* Facilitate social and educational activities that enhance learning and personal growth.
* Monitor and support the children’s progress and wellbeing.
* Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to promote a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
* The role involves working every morning from 8.45am to 12.15pm, with full days on Tuesdays and Fridays until 3.30pm.
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role, particularly in an SEN setting.
* Strong understanding of the challenges faced by children with ASD.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
* A patient, caring, and supportive approach to working with children.
