Autism Teaching Assistant - Monmouth

A friendly Monmouth primary school is looking for a calm, reliable Autism Teaching Assistant to work closely with a Year 4 pupil who benefits hugely from routine, reassurance, and familiar adults. You'll be part of a small, supportive team around the child, working closely with the class teacher and SENCO.
What the role will include:
Working 1:1 with a primary-aged pupil with autism
Helping the pupil settle into routines and navigate transitions
Supporting communication and emotional regulation in a calm, low-pressure way
Adapting activities so learning feels accessible and manageable
Encouraging independence at a pace that suits the childWhat the school is looking for:
Someone with experience supporting children with autism or additional needs
A naturally calm, patient, and grounded approach
The ability to build trust slowly and consistently
Good judgement and a team-focused attitude
A genuine interest in helping a child feel more confident in school
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or willingness to applyWhat you can expect:
