Responsibilities And Key Tasks
Working with R&D to support the new product introduction, from product concept to delivery of the final manufacturing processes. Specification, control, and purchase of production equipment needed in the moulding and manufacturing processes, including project management. Continuous improvement of all production equipment to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance processes or controls. Responsibilities include justification, requests for quotation, and investment requests (CapEx) for new production equipment. Estimating the product manufacturing process, including costs and production timings, and developing detailed cost analyses of new products. Conducting time and motion studies of new processes to support NPI cost analysis, as well as supporting continuous improvement of existing processes. Line balancing and production layout design with a strong focus on health and safety. Supporting prototype builds and engineering pilots, including prototyping manufacturing equipment. Planning for new equipment installation and improvements to existing equipment, jigs, fixtures, and measurement systems. Utilizing PFMEA to analyze process risks, designing out risks, or creating countermeasures to reduce likelihood. Supporting 'Design for Manufacture' and 'Design for Automation' processes, with a focus on product quality and developing systems that support product quality, including process validation and product testing. Supporting other team members, including engineers, technicians, and apprentices, to develop their skill sets.
Additional Skills/Qualifications Required
* Good communicator, both verbal and written; strong problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
* Inclusive of other teams and stakeholders in decision processes
* Utilization of lean manufacturing techniques
* Understanding of the production environment
* Either a relevant degree or several years' experience in engineering
* Experience with APQP documentation, including product design, process flow, manufacturing reviews, and PFMEA
