You have the opportunity to join our fantastic and friendly Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT) family as a healthcare support worker – we have full and part time roles available at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, the Community and other sites.
These are great opportunities for candidates who are looking to step into healthcare for the first time, or for those who are already in healthcare and want to work for an NHS Trust. Health Care Support Workers play a crucial role in all aspects of care delivery for our patients.
We have Health Care Support Worker roles available within different areas across our teams which include:
1. Trauma and Orthopaedics
2. Diabetes and Endocrinology
3. Respiratory
4. Acute Surgery
5. Integrated Medicine
6. Outpatients Department
7. Community - you will need to have a full UK driving license and a car for our community based positions and have a minimum of a Level 2 qualification
Main duties of the job
You will be joining a team of dedicated professionals who you will learn from on the job, we provide training to ensure you have the skills for the role and offer development opportunities to realise your career potential. You will be enrolled onto a health care support worker induction programme held each month, ensuring you feel supported as you take the first steps into your new career.
Please note:most of our wards operate a 24-hour shift rotation across a 7-day service. We are recruiting to full and part time hours, however for the role of a Health Care Support Worker, you will be expected to work shift patterns, which may include both day and night shifts - we are unable to offer set days/working patterns.The minimum part time hours we recruit to is 23 hours per week, we do not provide temporary or bank contracts for this role.

Essential criteria
8. Experience of working with people, ideally in a front-line customer service role

10. An understanding of the importance of patient confidentially and privacy.
11. Recognise how patients and colleagues need to be treated with dignity and respect and can demonstrate these behaviours in their daily work
12. Good verbal and written English communication skills
13. A flexible and adaptable approach with the aptitude to work in a busy hospital healthcare setting
14. Basic knowledge of health and safety with an awareness of the importance of following Trust policies and procedures
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Desirable criteria
15. Level 2 or Level 3 (NVQ) in health and Social Care or equivalent relevant experience
16. Willing to work towards Level 2 functional skills (Math & English)
17. Care Certificate/working towards
