Here at Spalding, we have a team of around 540 colleagues and produce products such as coleslaw, potato salad, salad bar bulk products (2kg), pasta salads and couscous/grains for major UK retailers. The Spalding site includes a restaurant with hot food available to colleagues.
What You’ll Be Doing
Shift Pattern: Sunday to Thursday (10pm to 6am)
As QA Supervisor on the night shift, you will lead a quality assurance team to verify that all materials and finished products are safe and conform to relevant specifications, legislation and customer requirements.
* Work closely with the Nights Production Manager to ensure the production of safe, legal food.
* Complete audits and KPIs and monitor output consistency for compliance purposes.
* Train the team to ensure new processes and procedures are adopted.
* Build production team capability to improve communication and understanding of technical standards.
* Investigate customer complaints or non-conformances to provide data informing resolution.
* Organise organoleptic panels to ensure consistent quality.
* Ensure a safe working environment and that the department meets Health, Safety and Environment standards.
* Manage the night QA team, ensuring tasks are completed in line with schedules and trackers.
* Monitor micro results and initiate investigations as required.
* Work with the hygiene team to ensure swabbing and hygiene audits are completed on schedule.
What We’re Looking For
* Flexibility to support hygiene audits
* Higher National Diploma level and/or experience in a similar role in food manufacturing
* Experience of managing a team and leading people
* Level 2/3 food safety certification
* Basic knowledge of weight legislation and allergen awareness/practical management of allergens
* Experience working with computer systems
* Understanding of internal audit processes and technical KPIs
* CCP training including HACCP principles for Manufacturing Unit
* Experience and knowledge of GMP
* Demonstrable non-conformance reporting techniques
* Microbiological awareness and basic food safety understanding
* Basic knowledge of hygiene principles and legal labeling practice
