Job summary
Manor Road Surgery, Beckenham (part of Beckenham PCN), is looking to recruit a GP to provide 6-month maternity cover, starting in October 2025. The post is for 6 sessions per week, ideally across 3 days.
You would be joining a supportive, high-performing, and friendly team who are passionate about delivering modern, efficient primary care while maintaining the traditional values of general practice.
We serve a practice population of 6,222 patients and pride ourselves on our high patient survey scores with minimal complaints. As a training practice, we support GP registrars and learners and are actively engaged in Beckenham PCN. Our facilities include recently modernised consulting rooms, and we embrace digital tools such as EMIS Web, AccuRx, e-Referral and Docman.
We have a low home visit rate, and operate a fair duty doctor (on-call) rota.
Main duties of the job
* Provide high-quality patient care
* Conduct surgery, telephone, and online consultations, plus occasional home visits
* Liaise with colleagues and external providers to ensure seamless care
* Investigate, treat, and refer patients in line with clinical guidance
* Review results and correspondence promptly
* Provide cover for colleagues when required
* Collect and review data for audit and QOF purposes
* Maintain excellent communication with patients and carers
* Attend clinical and governance meetings
* Work collaboratively and effectively within the team
* Manage your own workload and resources effectively
* Attend required training events and feedback sessions
* Report and follow up on significant incidents
About us
We are a friendly, well-run, and supportive GMS practice located in Beckenham, within walking distance of good transport links into central London and Kent.
Our team includes 3 GP partners (1 currently on maternity leave), 1 registrar, 1 practice nurse, and a strong admin/reception team. We are an active member of Beckenham PCN, which provides extended support from pharmacists, social prescribers, and mental health practitioners.

We use EMIS Web alongside AccuRx, Docman, and e-Referral, and we continue to adopt new technologies to support accessible, high-quality care.
Job descriptionResponsibilities
* Deliver safe, effective and patient-centred GP care, including chronic disease management, acute care, health promotion and screening
* Carry out surgery, telephone, and online consultations, and undertake occasional home visits
* Generate, check, and sign acute and repeat prescriptions in line with practice policy
* Investigate and refer patients in accordance with national and local guidelines
* Manage incoming results, correspondence, and workflow efficiently
* Participate in the practice duty doctor rota
* Contribute to clinical governance, audits, and QOF achievement
* Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional and practice standards
* Support colleagues, share workload, and work collaboratively across the team
* Uphold confidentiality, equality and diversity, and health & safety requirements
Person SpecificationEssential
* Vocationally trained and accredited GP (MRCGP or equivalent)
* Current GMC registration and licence to practise
* On the National Performers List
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
* IT literacy and familiarity with EMIS Web (or willingness to learn)
* Commitment to high standards of patient care, audit, and QOF delivery
* Punctual, reliable, and organised
Desirable
* Previous experience in a training practice
* Interest in contributing to PCN-wide services or enhanced services

* 6-month fixed-term maternity cover
