We are looking for a 400kV Senior Authorised Person for a 2 year contract for Hornsea 3 in the UK.
Responsible for the planning, administration, management, preparation, and execution of electrical works.
Responsibilities
• Implement our client's Electrical Safety Rules on site, including safe systems of work.
• Provide operational advice regarding high-voltage electrical installations for WTG, offshore substations, and HV submarine/onshore cables.
• Oversee safe commissioning of grid connections, onshore substations, and associated MV/HV/LV plant and equipment.
• Oversee all MV/HV/LV electrical operational activities to ensure safety, security, and network integrity.
• Support proactive management, coordination, and communication to ensure effective project processes.
• Coordinate MV/HV/LV commissioning activities throughout the project construction stages.
• Take electrical operational responsibility for entire substations.
• Work in adverse or emergency conditions when required.
• Participate in on-call rotations as needed.
• Complete required GWO and HUET training.
• Meet medical fitness requirements.
Tasks
• Ensure compliance with our client's Electrical Safety Rules.
• Coordinate safety in electrical matters.
• Act as Senior Authorised Person.
• Conduct outage management and network control with Control Engineers.
• Update MV/HV/LV schematic diagrams.
• Perform worksite inspections, safety audits, and electrical assessments.
• Coordinate with the Lead Commissioning Project Manager to provide accurate project updates.
• Manage HV/MV/LV commissioning activities.
• Coordinate with National Grid and attend commissioning panel meetings.
• Prepare and review HV switching schedules.
• Review method statements related to electrical work.
• Provide training programs in accordance with the rules.
• Offer technical and engineering advice to electrical work parties.
• Assist different departments supporting our client when required.
• Attend FAT and SAT testing as needed.
• Serve as a Training Mentor for various projects.
• Perform switching and grounding operations (HV/MV/LV).
• Create isolation zones and establish worksite demarcation.
• Lead toolbox talks.
• Conduct pre- and post-energization checks across the wind farm.
• Participate in onshore and offshore work rotations as assigned.
• Complete project-specific administrative tasks supporting the Lead SAP.
• Use Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
Deliverables
• Input to commissioning management manuals and related documents (incl. quality plans).
• Participation in audits.
• FAT & SAT testing reports for HV equipment.
• Onsite verification of switching programs.
• Support planning of resource and work activities.
• Contribute to authorization and assessment of new candidates.
• Provide technical input during the project design phase.
Decision Authority / Responsibility
• Authority for MV/HV switching and isolations.
• Issue Electrical Safety Rules documentation.
• Manage onsite electrical safety practices.
Requirements (400 kV Senior Authorised Person)
• Appropriate electrical qualification aligned with authorization scope.
• Several years of operational and commissioning experience in high-voltage systems (offshore experience preferred).
• Minimum 3 years' experience with onshore substation systems.
