Senior Consultant – Stakeholder Engagement & Consultation

The Opportunity This is an exciting time to join Arup as we sit at the heart of the UK’s infrastructure sector, leading on nationally significant schemes in energy, water, aviation and more! We need specialist consultants to join our growing stakeholder engagement and consultation centre of excellence in the Midlands. You will support some of the UK’s largest DCOs, work with a high‑performing team and deliver stakeholder engagement, consultation and reporting.
Role
* Act as a Deputy Stakeholder Engagement Lead for projects
* Contribute to preparation of stakeholder and consultation plans
* Create and publish printed and digital communications materials
* Assist with management and delivery of public consultation events
* Oversee analysis and coding of consultation responses and production of coding frameworks
* Support author of consultation reports (statutory and non‑statutory)
* Facilitate stakeholder workshops and manage stakeholder workshops
* Develop new technologies and best practice techniques for consultation
* Identify and map stakeholders and audiences

* Further develop your understanding of the engagement, consultation and communications requirements under a range of statutory instruments and non‑statutory guidance, and support the development of others
* Develop and promote best practice on consultation within the team and be an advocate in the wider company
* Build a range of consultation and engagement skills with a range of clients
* Work in a growing and high‑performing team and build relationships with other Arup disciplines
* Work on high‑profile projects of national and regional significance
Essential Skills and Knowledge
* Demonstrable experience delivering stakeholder engagement and consultation requirements for DCOs and TCPAs
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Experience supporting consultation events
* Strong project management and organisational skills
* Ability to think creatively and contribute to the development of consultation and communications tools
* Ability to work as part of a team and manage people for consultationEmotional intelligence and the ability to negotiate and persuade
Qualifications
* Degree, Masters, or Diploma qualified in communications, public relations, town planning or a relevant discipline
* Desire to work towards a chartered membership of a relevant professional institute, e.g., Consultation Institute, Chartered Institute of Public Relations or equivalent
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
* Relevant sector experience (energy, transport, water) in communications, consultation and engagement
* Full driving licence
