Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Geriatrician on behalf of the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust, Cornwall. Cornwall Older People’s Services and Frailty Pathway are undergoing rapid transformation with significant investment. The role will involve expanding Older People’s Services, Parkinson’s Disease Service and Frailty in Cornwall, providing inpatient and outpatient care, leading a countywide multidisciplinary team, and engaging in teaching and research.
Main Duties
General geriatrics with interest in orthogeriatrics, dementia, Parkinson’s/movement disorders, community geriatrics, stroke or a mixture of these areas. Prospect to develop specific interests through innovation and service improvement (e.g., surgical liaison). Flexible working, 2.5 SPAs for the first year for new consultants.
Team and Support
The Eldercare team includes nurses, allied health professionals, community partners and an old age psychiatrist, delivering multidisciplinary care. The team collaborates with the regional NHS Foundation Trust and maintains links with research and undergraduate/postgraduate teaching.

Job Responsibilities
 * Provide clinical care for older adults, including inpatient Parkinson’s disease and community teams.
 * Lead and develop multidisciplinary care pathways.
 * Engage in clinical audit, governance and quality improvement projects.
 * Deliver teaching to medical students, peers and MDT members.
 * Collaborate with research initiatives and support evidence‑based practice.
 * Participate in service improvement and leadership roles.
Person Specification – Qualifications
 * GMC Registration with a licence to practice.
 * GMC Specialist Register or within six months of CCT (or equivalent) at interview.
 * Current UK professional registration.
Experience
 * Teaching experience (medical students, peers, MDT).
 * Experience in clinical audit and governance.
 * Previous leadership or service improvement roles desirable.
Skills
 * Strong clinical credibility and communication abilities.
 * Flexible and adaptable approach to care.
 * Excellent interpersonal skills.
Additional Circumstances
 * Current and valid visa to work in the UK.
