Principal Engineer – Operating Documentation
Location
Barrow‑In‑Furness or Filton (UK). Hybrid and flexible working arrangements available.

Responsibilities
* Provide input and support to the Technical Documentation Manager in producing and managing Operating Documentation and Damage Control Documentation.
* Construct procedural documents for all classes of UK Submarines, both in‑service and future platforms.
* Produce manuals for the safe operation of all systems and equipment, including hotel services, weapons, combat systems, propulsion systems and command guidance.
* Perform technical verification and validation of all Operating and Damage Control Documentation.
* Collaborate with other Support Engineering teams to interpret technical information from external suppliers and the Interactive Electronic Technical Publication (IETP).
* Interpret technical data—including drawings, manufacturer handbooks and design safety justifications—for production of Operating and Damage Control Documentation.
Essential skills and experiences
* Experience working on Royal Navy Submarines, particularly within Ship Control or Tactical Picture Organisations.
* Ability to work with multiple and varied information sources to create technical documentation to a defined specification.
* Experience interpreting design, engineering, procedural and OEM information to produce viable Operating Information.
Desirable skills
* HNC/HND or higher in an engineering discipline.
* Experience in a Technical Publications environment.
* Competency in Microsoft products (Word, Access, Excel) to a level applicable to the role.
