Job Description:
We are looking for a Teacher to teach KS3 and KS4. As a Teacher, you will work in our alternative education provision in Kings Lynn. You will be teaching students who have emotional and behavioural difficulties, in small groups. The work is intensive, requiring flexibility, sensitivity, patience, and resilience. An ability to work with and engage all students with creativity and passion towards the subject is essential. Class sizes are a maximum of 8, with support from a teaching assistant, enabling you to form key relationships with students.
You will be part of a small but effective team where communication and professionalism are paramount. The work, whilst challenging, is extremely rewarding. Your main responsibilities will include teaching, producing schemes of work and lesson plans, and building rapport with students and their families or carers. You will also liaise with various agencies to resolve student issues and barriers to learning.
Main accountabilities include:
* Creating an inspiring learning environment with high expectations for achievement and progression.
* Planning, developing, and updating schemes of work to meet curriculum, inspection, and accreditation standards, following guidance from the DfE and other bodies.
* Developing learning resources and routes tailored to learner needs and compliance requirements.
* Preparing lessons for off-site students for support staff to deliver.
* Supporting learners to reflect on their progress and set positive targets.
* Maintaining good order and safeguarding students' wellbeing.
* Building effective relationships with students and families, liaising with outside agencies as needed.
* Handling administrative tasks such as examination entries, register-taking, and invigilation.
Other duties:
* Acting as a role model; promoting Catch22 and the Education directorate’s vision and values.
* Complying with policies on safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, data protection, and confidentiality.
* Engaging in personal and professional development and sharing best practices with colleagues.
Qualifications, skills, and experience:
* A recognized higher qualification with substantial teaching and planning experience, with a willingness to work towards QTS.
* Experience working with young people with complex, high behaviour, and additional learning needs.
* Extensive behaviour management experience with students exhibiting complex and extreme behaviours.
* Previous experience teaching KS3 and KS4.
* A clear understanding of the National Curriculum and its application.
* Robust knowledge of behavioural techniques and their application.
* Knowledge of statutory requirements related to equal opportunities, discrimination, health and safety, safeguarding, and child protection.
* Strong planning and assessment skills.
* Ability to adapt a range of teaching, learning, and behaviour management strategies, including personalising learning for all students to reach their potential.
