Attendance Officer – Newcastle

Role: Attendance Officer

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

Start Date: Immediate / ASAP

Salary: £115 – £145 per day (depending on experience)

Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term Contract (with Temp-to-Perm potential)

About the School:

We are recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded and progressive academy trust located in Newcastle upon Tyne. The academy boasts state-of-the-art facilities and a passionate leadership team focused on driving up student engagement, welfare, and high standards of attendance across all year groups.

About the Role:

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive professional who excels at building authentic, positive relationships with young people and their families. Working on the front lines of the school's pastoral division, you will manage backend data analysis while actively engaging with parents to communicate the critical importance of regular school attendance.

Key Responsibilities:

* Oversee morning and afternoon registration processes, ensuring high data accuracy across the school database.

* Identify, log, and follow up immediately on any unexcused or unexplained absences.

* Issue standard local authority and school framework letters to parents regarding escalating attendance concerns.

* Meet with students on a 1-to-1 basis to discuss personal attendance targets, offering mentoring and support.

* Compile comprehensive daily and weekly attendance reports for presentation to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

* Ensure all student data and intervention logs are handled strictly in accordance with GDPR guidelines.

Requirements:

* Proven experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable families within an educational, social work, or community framework.

* High level of literacy and numeracy with rapid, precise data-entry skills.

* Excellent telephone manner and a calm, professional approach when defusing challenging situations.

* Knowledge of the barriers that impact student attendance and a desire to help families overcome them.

* An enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service is mandatory for this immediate vacancy.
